Ask A Ninja

You can ask a ninja anything.  Even about podcasts.

The YouTube video below is a priceless answer to the question “What is Podcasting?”.  Entertainment value aside, it inspired me to think of a satirical list of what not to do when creating a podcast.

10 Things What NOT To Do When Creating A Podcast:

  1. People are subscribing to listen to you.  But they aren’t going to listen you if you’re talking at 100 mph.
  2. But then again, they aren’t going to listen to you if you’re talking slower than your grandmother after her daily gin and tonic.
  3. You are dumber than you think, unless you’re Barack Obama giving a speech from his teleprompter.  Never wing your podcast.
  4. You’re not creating a scary movie, so white noise isn’t considered special sound effects.
  5. It’s not all about you.  Give something interesting (like conversations) for your audience to listen to.
  6. Unless you’re banking on a makeout session with your microphone, you shouldn’t be sitting so close to it.
  7. If you’re one of the people expecting big movement and change in this country overnight, you probably shouldn’t expect much from yourself either when creating a podcast.
  8. Remember, podcast listeners can’t physically see you so think of other ways to attract them.
  9. A 6-pack of RedBull will not save you from podcast failure.
  10. The ninja didn’t become famous on his own.  Don’t underestimate the power of sharing content.

If you don’t like my advice, you can ask a ninja.
